Why not make our own TV series? Think about it. We have all the resources necessary - Chase boats, camera boats, boats for review and testing, (I expect someone can lay their hands on a small helicopter (or a helicam) as well. We have experts on every aspect of boat repair and maintenance. The last job I did for the BBC covered the renovation of a canal cruiser and for six of the eight days shooting there were just two of us on the production side, me and the cameraman! plus the boats owner helping and occasionally appearing on comera. Post production was minimal as the material was shot in the finished order. At that time the BBC was paying £150 per day plus expenses so it is probably a bit more now. So who wouldn't be happy to take their boat out for a days shooting for a couple of hundred quid in their pocket plus diesel paid for?
I suspect that IPC would be interest once it was proven to be viable.
So. who knows anyone involved with TV production companies that are interested in making low cost high quality programmes?
Those with negative attitudes needn't apply!
