Forum time

Why, on of all places a boating forum, is UT+1 still being used to register the time of postings?

Haha. Patience is needed BJB. It'll be ok next March.

The confusion all this causes can come in handy. Last week a client said he wanted a conf call at a ridiculous 0630 London time, 0730 Germany and 0930 Dubai. The person wanting the call was the German guy and his email dial-in invitation was written from German perspective and it mentioned the "0730" number but he was trying to be clever and it actually said "0730 UTC+1". So I dialled in (last week) at 0730 local London time and the line was nicely dead, and to round things off nicely I sent an email saying "Grrr, where are you all?!". Then I went back to sleep :-)

Not forgetting the Darwin Award Palestinian terrorists who planned to set off co-ordinated car bombs in Israel, but forgot to re-set their watches to allow for daylight saving time, and instead blew themselves up on a quiet road in the desert.

Outstanding!

jfm - story reminds me of a meeting a couple weeks back in More London. We were shooting the breeze at about midnight whilst the troops sorted out some docs for signing when a partner turns up in dressing gown and slippers grumbling about having had his bluff called on willingness to start a call at 8.00am Singapore.
