It strikes me that we have heard no more about the Mercury Meet that was cancelled earlier, surprisingly, through lack of interest. There was some suggestion that we might have a meet later in the year. I have been to two of these do's & they have been great.

A small group of us had a wonderful time at the Folly as a substitute for the May Mercury Meet this year.

My question is:

Are we a sociable bunch or a miserable load of Grumpy Wrinklies?

Is there any interest in a meet later in the year & if so what month gets the best response?

Let the flood gates open!

Martin

Martin,

I suggested a Spring Ball, which I accept might not have been to everyones taste, but only got half a dozen expressions of interest.....

Still, no skin off my nose, we have a regular East Mids get together, which is always a good evening out in pleasant company, and as it happens the next one is tommorrow evening /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can therefor only assume that largely we are a miserable load of Grumpy Wrinklies!

I like the idea,
What do peeps on here think of having say a boat handling comp or a log comp. or something along those lines. I would volunteer to help any mobo if I can, and sure there are others on here who would to for mobo or sail or both.
For the kids you could have a dingy dressing comp or boat handling. It be run during the day and them a BBQ or something in the evening.

or does anyone have any other ideas.

So do I
Tom can run cross dressing classes
Jimi can run mast climbing races
Joe V can bring the wee boat along so we can use its pool
Big Nick can organise a venue (!!!!)
I'll bring the resuc gear and some C2H5OH

seriously would be interested to help if we got enough together.

Richard

As I said to Bigmart on pm earlier, v happy to get another Mercury event organised later in year. The sponsorship by MDL still stands, but we do need minimum numbers to break even due to fixed costs. Everything else like boat handling competitions etc is easy enough, as no cost.

I'd love to see it go ahead, as the past two years were brilliant fun, as everyone that attended them will confirm.

Questions are: what date, and who is up for it.

Cherbourg trip is a very different type of meet though, very few swmbo and children along (having done both, both years, though first year Cherbourg we did cheat a bit and go weekend before), and Mercury meet allows people to attend by car if they are not long distance types.

Hmmm!
V strange, the last two years people were falling over themselves to come, and we had to introduce waiting lists. Seems the newer breed of forumites just aren't interested in meeting up

You're all welcome out here if you need to give it a more exotic flavour!
