Although most people come by boat it's not obligatory. All that matters is that you are a registered member of ybw forums so you qualify - boat or no boat.

Latest Update

So far 15 boats (1 dropped out unfortunately)
Still hoping a few more of you will decide to join us and you can sign up HERE

3 have still to order their food requirements HERE

We have invited Matt Carter and Angela Quayle from the Environment Agency to be our guests at the arrival reception and I understand at least one of them, and quite possibly both, will do so - a good chance for forumites to meet the people that are running the river!

Final Arrangements

I will be emailing all confirmed attendees on Tuesday or Wednesday next week to let you have final details for the weekend.

The most important detail will be the arrangements for paying for food. We will be asking you to bring an envelope with your forum username and boat name printed on the front to the welcome reception on Saturday afternoon containing the right money - cash please, no cheques or I.O.U.'s ! - for your Saturday evening food choices and for Sunday breakfast.

I will be away on the river from tomorrow evening until late Tuesday but will still be monitoring emails and the forum.

Sorry for the short notice but I won't know for certain if I/we can join you until Wednesday evening - would this be too late?

If we do manage to get to Windsor, we'll have the boat behind the car. If I can sort out the engine, we'll launch at Windsor very early (7.00am?) Saturday morning and potter up and down the river til 3.00 ish.

If not, we'll probably sleep on the boat on Windsor's hard :o

I have this afternoon emailed all attendees with final details.

If anyone does not receive the email or has any queries please send me a PM via the forum or text to 07976 243823

Any last minute bookings please do same - we can probably still fit you in.

Nice one Tone!

Well, we arrived at around 3pm at Windsor, spoke to Mike Gates on the phone, and were duly allocated a complimentary berth for the night...

Upon collecting our free drinks and paid-for food tickets from B1, and our name badges from Mike, we enjoyed a few drinks on TWYC's terrace, and basked in the Sun while a few other forumites arrived.

A little later, Fish and Chips duly arrived, which was followed by a pleasant and very well organised evening of Music, Chat and Drinks with around twenty other of our contributers and SWMBO's.

We also met the representatives of MDL Marina's, and our very new Thames main man Matt, who stayed for a few hours along with his Wife, which was kind, and Mike Gates also enjoyed a few drinks with us.

Breakfast was serviced at 09:00hrs as promised, at which point most of us departed, some back off to Henley and beyond, others just back to Bray.

I would like to thank Tony for organising things, and so beautifully, as there were no hitches, and TWYC for their extraordinary hospitality, especially the utter kindness shown to us non-members during the evening, and following morning as their Commodore cooked us a cracking brekkies!
Lets not forget Mike Gates either, he always seems to be doing kind and generous things with the local boating fraternity, far in excess of normal customer service, and frankly lifts MDL out of the 'Service provider' role and more into the 'River community' bracket. So rare nowadays, but always welcome!

Great to meet some of you guys too, some for the first time, some not, and I hope you all had a great time, and safe trip home :D

Yes, congratulations to Tony for organizing the get together and for performing on the night, it was good to put some faces to forum names, now just need to remember their boat names!

Thanks to Mike Gates for his generosity and to the Windsor club for looking after us so well.

I think No Regrets and Brayman have already said most of what I would have put so I'll just add our thanks to Tony and also to all the forum people we met. There were some we didn't get to make the acquaintance of this time but look forward to in the future.

Oh, and a special thanks to Maggie for the cup of tea she very kindly provided while we awaited the start of the proceedings.

Hope you all had a safe journey home.

Next time we can hopefully attend by boat.
