I believe Thursday 9th is the late opening night at LIBS, where traditionally forumites lay a foundation at the Guiness bar, before heading off to the Prin/Fair/Sun stands for the music, booze and canapes.

I have to be in Barcelona on Friday morning, was looking for a flight yesterday and a slightly ott idea crossed my mind that I could possibly fly to London, visit LIBS stay in a hotel around somewhere convenient and catch an early morning flight to Barca on Fri.
Would it make sense? What is late opening and does LIBS make sense if I have to catch a flight from (presumably LHR will need to check)? OK, I remember that every year there's a thread saying how bad to have it out in the sticks compared to central London but I never bothered to check where is that anyway and time/costs involved.

anyone can make any sense out of the above

Vas, the Excell Centre is literally 5 mins from London City Airport. Are there any flights to Barca from there? You are probably 60 mins from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, or Luton Airports. Shawn (Lanerboy) has found a nearby hotel at £39 for the night, so it looks a good option. The show is open to 21.00 on the Thursday, and you have a great opportunity to see some boats, boaty gear,and more importantly, meet a few of us too.
