Whats happening with this calendar?

Empty and unloved?

Mid December and I haven't seen much in the way of plans for next season yet, but no doubt it will liven up once things start happening again. Had a word or two with Dan about having an ECF calender on the YBW calender but it seems it's not an option, so we either lump in with everyone else and try to find East Coast events mixed in with everyone else's birthdays and stuff, or carry on as before.
Must admit to a little confusion over some of the negative comments though, when the time was available to yours truly to sort this out, everyone thought it was a good idea. Only when I got it working and people used it did anyone step forward with other ideas, wish they had saved me the work in the first place
Anyway, had loads of PM's from people asking for the login details, so most seem happy with things as they stand, they just prefer a quiet life so don't say much on here
The arrival of the good ship Sixpence on Essex waters will be posted on the calender though, probably about a week before I get there

Hi, Am recently back on East coast - have bought "Ostara" - West Briton 37' shoal draft cruiser by Frank Penghelly, launched 1951, Curtis and Pape, Looe. I think she was on the East coast ? Brightlingsea based in the 90s.
Now in Tollesbury for the snowy season.
Would like to partake in the meetings/excursions next year - who's in charge?
AM.

Nobody ;):D

Rule 1
No rools
Rule 2
refer to rule 1

bluemerlin, welcome back to the east coast. Forgive our hecklers for their hectoring, but they do have a point.

Rule 1
There are no rules
Rule 2
If in doubt, see rule 1.

There are no members, no committee, no subscriptions, no club house except the whole of the East Coast (boundary commission to report back in 2062 to define East Coast) and any bit of coast you happen to come from, live in or sail in.
Events are posted here, and you come, or not. We never knowingly book anywhere that needs a deposit, because we have a peculiar habit of arriving by water. Or not if you prefer.
There are no leaders, no clique, no funny handshakes and anyone is welcome boat owner or not.
Although we do have events which appear to have taken on traditian status, their format, except Pirate weekend, is open.

We usually, and I use the term loosely, have the following events
Fitting Up supper, normally early April, could be anywhere
Oostende last weekend in May, although we are planning to go up to Bruges this year and come back to Oostende by train or summat.
Pirate weekend usually 1st weekend July Walton Backwaters, Stone Point.
Laying Down Supper, Octoberish, also could be anywhere.

In between lots of people meet up for barbecues, nights at anchor anything in fact.

I also sometimes call for crew in Burnham week, as do a couple of others, never seriously.

If you have an idea, pipe up.

There is a YBW burgee if you wish, which is also a pee take.

Hope that covers it.
Anyone can suggest a meeting or do, just post your idea and let it roll.

You couldn't hope to meet a nicer bunch.

According to this holiday guide, Bruges is a bit of a sh*thole.
I tend to agree. :p

Cracking film BTW

Thanks for info

Thanks boys - plenty of opportunity for beer and not too much in the way of committee meetings - count me in.

Have discovered whilst rummaging about in the papers that came with the boat that she is supposed to have won a race to Ostend! Have never won a race in my life and proudly come 149th in the GP14 internationals in Skerries years ago (my crew only weighed 4 stone and I'm **** at hiking out). We would have come 150th, but on the last but one day we stayed in because of weather and the Nigerian Navy boat sank!!

Look forward to meeting over a beer or two.

acessing the event calendar

If anyone just want to view, then clicky here...[/QUOTE]

Hi. I've just joined YBW forum and would like to view the East Coast calendar but 1. I get it in French and b. it is all blank. No plans for 2011? or do I have to do something else to get access?

Hang around and read the East Coast forum, all will be revealed.

East coast sailing

Hi,
I am currently developing a website called "East coast Sailing" which aims to be a resource for all that goes on and exists for yachtsmen and women in this area.
Within the site I have a Google calendar for displaying E. coast events. I can include other calendars to be displyed on this. would you be interested in including your calendar there? If so could I have the login pass for your E coast calendar.

Suffolk Boat jumble

Hi Guys, Would it be worth putting Suffolk boat jumble to the East coast calendar, we had a stall there last year and almost sold out by lunch time and bought our new mooring lines, hand held VHF and lots of bits and bobs.
Happy bargain hunting...
