A close up of the original burgee, very high quality material - please note: 2 layers of material sewn together and very fine embroidery. Too heavy to fly from the VHF antenna though! Nevertheless, a thing of beauty. Posted with a view of giving potential suppliers an idea of the quality. These were an excellent price for the quality.

The only problem i see is the graphic is a little too small for the flag.

+1
I was looking at the somewhat more abused one I have here, and the graphic could have done with being more... bigger.

The cotton thread to tie it on with was also a bit pants. I lowered the halyard to put up another burgee and the YBW almost came off in my hands. Lucky it didn't fly away in the breeze.

Apart from that, the quality is lovely. Mine has seen too much action, though, and now resides in my nav table.

Well you can not be left with the new version, what a total mess. I'm trying to find my guys number, with little success. I've asked my son to call round.

I'm sure something can be sorted out with the string, just need a new way of providing them

sorry for ignorance but what does the glass and mouse signify

Kinnel, don't you listen? I told you on your Course
Nowt to do with what sarabande said, He is just an Old Sheep Farmer (why the feck he farms old sheep we don't know but there you are) It's about stockin yer Boats Bar with good stuff.
The Mouse is a Welsh thing-- Caerphilly cheese an all that--- Then the Glass is made from finest Welsh glass from Llanerchymedd glass mines, just up the road from the Clogau Gold Mines but bugger me we aint gonna give gold goblets to the Forai peeps fer gowds sake innit!
So that's how it came about, well not quite-- the Mouse is Welsh-- suppin from a glass hactually made in England-- near the Potteries I think
So it's A welsh Mouse suppin out of an English glass I reckon:cool:;):p

it'sa link back to the hospitality offered when the Gin Pennant (do a web search) is hoisted on HM ships.

This made me chuckle:
Wikipedia said:
Within the RAN it is common practice, whilst in port, for junior officers of one ship to attempt to raise the Gin Pennant on the halyard of another ship, thereby forcing that ship to put on free drinks for the officers of the ship that managed to raise the pennant.

Now there's an idea.. we create a forum rule that everyone has to sign up to when joining that forces another forum member with less that the required number of posts (junior members) to open their fun box to anyone who has purchased a forum burgee with a post count higher than say, 5000 (senior members), and who has successfully tied their burgee to a boat they recognise as being a forum member (from the name of the boat) without them being caught in the act... lets call the ruling, "socialism"

I have a post count greater than 5000 and have a burgee.. it's a fab idea, let's do it :)

Wot you on ??????

Perhaps senior forum members with more than around 5000 posts should instead seek out junior forum members with posts in the region of low hundreds and ply them with gin and a complimentary burgee?

Sounds good to me. I'll see you later, then oGaryo!

... and I suppose that the blue field came from the Saltire. What will happen after Independence? Will the colour be changed? :p
