Formula 34 or Fairline Targa 27 for coastal use around North Wales?

Great thanks. A 3:14am post! When the hangover subsides :encouragement:

Mr Kawasaki is never seen between sun up and sun down :)

Having donned my shades at this weird hour, I have managed a PM to you Bruce
No hangover by the way-- teetotal since the 29th of Dec 2014, up in the early hours because Mrs K is almost Nocturnal due to Her various conditions
Some say, brought on after 30 odd (very odd!) years of Marriage!
;)

mmm No PM received. There are three ways this can play out.
1) I blame the board software and/or Admin
2)I blame the Shades for blurring the cancel and send button
3)I seek a refund on my education from the govt and put it towards the boat and write a humbling public apollogy to Admin or said Shades when somebody tells me I've not set up my settings / config / profile up correctly.

I'll investigate 3 first

Shared a few words on the blower with the gentleman sage. He's looking to scare me witless soon. He sounds delighted at the prospect. Should I be worried?

Renumeration? No. But in a classic Blues Brothers pitch he seemed rather insistent that the women and children attend. Now I'm worried.

That's really very impressive. A little incredulous I'll admit. 39 knts! Is that with or without JATO? Maybe I should widen my search horizons.
39 knots, new anti foul, just serviced, no water in the tank, 100L of fuel and an empty boat ie none of the usual clutter, 3 on board.
Never achieved it since mind you, probably 34 - 36, with the tide!

That's still impressive on those engines. I'm no speed merchant but with the following seas around here I want a boat with enough power to tack along the back of a wave without falling off it and the Targa's I've tried so far with AD31's are not up to it.

5 knot tide yes. But the waves come in a helluva lot faster if you're caught napping. Can't speak for cruisers but when that's happened to me in the little cuddy and you start surfing and broaching it's bloody scary. Much better to keep pace with the waves riding their backs in. Makes for a smooth ride without the need for diapers. The waves almost always come in at least 17 to 18 knots and tacking down their backs at 20 or slightly above gives me the control needed which is my experience and not necessarily the best way of doing itm The prospect of having white water breaking over the transom is bloody offputting. And before anybody says shouldn't be out etc I have often gone out fishing on a millpond and the change in wind and tide can cause the sea state here to change along with it frighteningly quickly. At least when you're floating in a little tub.

interesting post what ever the sea you have to resect ic i moved from 26 to 35 realy your choice but ten foot of boat does n 0ot change tide or wind

Of course not. I am after a bigger boat because i have a young family that want to join me. Two kids and a wife in a 20 foot cuddy gets cramped quickly. I am looky for a sea kindly boat big enough on a tight budget. The Targa was my choice. Nothing but good is ever said about their early hulls. However the engines on those i tried just seem worn out and unable to deliver to original spec. Planing was marginal. The thread pitted a very attractive offer made to me on a Formula 34 and it has the power but how does it measure against the Targa as a sea kindly boat?
