Formula 330 CBR - any alternatives?

Hi All,

New to the forum - hello everyone!

Three years ago I bought a old Four Winns H200 (2001 model) out in Corfu where I holiday quite a lot. I had previously rented day boats, but found them limiting and underpowered. After a lot of mulling, and three years strong use, I've decided to take the plunge and buy something else for next year. I have grown very used to the bowrider style, but would like something larger and more powerful, with a head and better facilities.

I had been looking at replacing it with another Four Winns (H290/H310) until I was shown the details of the Formula 330 CBR by the chap who runs the boat yard I use out there. Have to say I've quite fallen for it.......but are there alternatives I should be considering? The overnight cabin on the 330 CBR is a big feature, and would allow me to head further afield every now and then, without the need to book rooms ahead.

All suggestions welcome.

Cheers, Mark

bump.

I cant comment on the alternative bow rider styles. I have the 34 PC which I believe is the same hull. It's a deep V throughout it's length and although gets on the plane relatively easy, only really comes alive after 25 knots, until then it feels like it's dragging a bit. Mine has KAMD 42's in which means that those speeds are pretty much cruising and above with a subsequent fuel burn. Much would depend on the engines in them. Being American built they were mostly gasoline powered when mine was built (mid 90's) and really need the power the big V8's provide to give their best performance. Then the fuel burn and range becomes an issue. Good luck in you search.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. I was planning to spec one of the two 8.2 Mercruiser options on it - I know they will guzzle fuel like crazy, but I do appreciate the odd mad dash!

Have been in contact with the UK dealer about them - there are no others in the UK at present to have a look at, so it will either be a "blind buy", or a trip to the US will be in order.
