Amongst other jobs this winter, I'm refurbishing my saloon table. Its a folding type, with the upper surface when folded, a working surface with fiddles. Open out and its a flat top (at anchor use) double size table.
It had formica on the small surface.

Where can I find this type of laminate material? All I see on websites of places is the worktop type laminated chipboard material. I only want the thin laminate, perhaps 1-2mm thick. Any hints?

Have you thought of several coats of 2pack car paint? I used it on some school pottery/painting tables and 5 years on it looks like new. You can build up quite a thickness as it is a resin.

Also worth seeking out local firms who laminate worktops to order. They often have offcuts as they buy on a roll. There are 3 such places around Bournemouth - I know no use to you but gives you an idea how common they are. I got a piece big enough to make both sides of a folding cover for a cooker space for £10 from one. A perfect match for the existing Bavaria worktop was a bonus.
