It would be nice to think that people would give the other side a go now and again ... it would go a long way I think to reducing the silly friction that sometimes comes up. It may even help some to understand why Raggies moan about |Mobo wash ... why Mobo's moan about sail and right of way etc. etc.

I know I for one enjoyed many hours stretched out with glass of plonk in hand - while another "drove" the mobo. Also I know of Mobo people that enjoyed the peace and quiet of sail after the vibration and roar of engines ....

C'mon guys & dolls - cross that divide - see the world from the other side ...

I agree completely... I'm quite missing those lovely maneouvres I used to do in my twin diesel, but still loving every moment under sail.

Another thought would be for those who are looking for a little help whilst gaining experience to take advantage of those with miles behind them...

If anyone here is getting used to a new mobo, I'd be delighted to come along and lend a hand - I found teaching close quarters stuff in my mobo to new peeps as thrilling as, and sometimes more challenging than, training folk to fly!

Absolutely .....

We should all have a shot at the other side ... instead of just slagging of - even though stinkies are a PITA !!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Absolutely .....

As I've just raised elsewhere, aren't the best Mobo's retired Raggies?? (Don't tell me it works the other way too . . .)

Bit late with this one but, I've sailed with a couple of Raggie owners who held very strong anti-Mobo opinions. Very wrong of them IMHO but, Nigel is on the money here. You have to mix things up a bit to break down the 'Us and Them' mentality. We should all get to see the other side.
Then, perhaps we can all gang up on the fishermen! - Joke!

Being a relative newcomer to boating in general, I've got some twin diesel experience. However, I'm one who'd love to learn to sail as well. I like the idea of being able to do both and enjoy both. Having an impenatrable divide doesn't seem particularly sensible or useful to me, but hey I'm a newcomer to the whole thing :-).

no longer a virgin

Just had my 1st sail on a yacht today, had a great time and want to do more.

I haven't defected to the other side though /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Try the other side if you haven't. I thoroughly recomend it
