Forestay/Backstay Rigging

Thanks gents!

Yep, before I look, I think I may have a slightly 'over sporty' tension on my cap shrouds.. and funnily enough my loo door is marginally off kilter from when the shrouds were slack. :)

Poor ol girl. Was just starting to enjoy her old age and along comes a 'young' upstart and put her through her paces. haha

William is a lovely chap, but I would suggest one word of caution about his comment on shackles. He day sails and races a fairly small boat and sometime suggests things that would not be suitable for Ocean going larger yachts. You might be ok with shackles in a small boat, but the working and maximum load of lots of shackles is nowhere near enough for some bigger boats standing rigging. And you don't have to go very big - I was picked up by a surveyor for having shackles that were appeared to be big enough but were well underrated on a 27 foot boat once.

Fair point John,

I'll make sure that anything I replace the turnbuckle with is more than up to its potential stress load.
