The last couple of years, my son has been in nappies and in a pop up cot in the forepeak - this contained both him and his, well you know what nappies are for.

This year he is neither in nappies nor a cot at home and need to set up the forepeak accordingly. I need to put edge protection on the bunk face to stop him rolling out of bed which is a fair drop to the sole and also protect the foam mattress from ending up very stinky.

At home we have washable protection sheets for the occasional accident but washing and drying will be problematic aboard.

So - so his will not be a particularly rare issue so what suggestions do you have / How did you solve this particular issue?

I gave up sailing when the children were that age and bought a caravan instead, was alot more relaxing.

However for this would use a single inflatable mattress for about £8, which are typically 185x75cm so should fit nicely and then use a normal mattress protector on top.

For security can you just put the infill panel in? If not then a couple of discrete eyebolts in the bulkheads and a leecloth suspended between them.

A net to stop both crawler and toddler falling out of the forepeak berth. Two hooks holding the net in place. Once up put on custom-stitched harnesses and safety lines. You couldn't buy harnesses small enough. One fell in once from on deck: pulled out by line spluttering. He never did it again.

Some sort of net or leecloth is probably your best bet for stopping him falling out.

Short of a nappy at night I can't see any reliable solutions.
You can get travel waterproof nappy training pads which are fairly small and a bit like a big travel changing mat, a few of those and spare bedsheets might work?
