I've just replaced the bearings on my Rutland. When I reassembled the front magnet I noticed it was marked N the other magnet had S marked. I put these on opposite sides. Is this correct?

I've been doing some searching and found a few things on the internet, the polarity is not mentioned. I wonder if this means it is not important?

Not necessarily ! I've just done mine as well and basically the way they automatically aline is the correct way. Marlec have produced a very useful You Tube Video.

If yours just grabbed each other then thats fine. Once assembled on the bench you can test by measuring the voltage by spinning by hand - a good shove should get 4 volts !

Many thanks for that. I did mine in the cockpit and left the blades in place, the bearings both stayed on the shaft when I took the hub off. At the weekend I'll check that the small spigots are lined up, I think they must be or the front hub would be out of true.
