Ford XLD

I am just in the process of installing a Ford 1.8 diesel into the boat.

The basic Ford engine is currently sitting in a chain hoist about a foot above it's final position ready for adding all the marinising bits.

I will be taking a series of photos of each item being fitted.

If there was sufficent demand for it on the forums I could produce a write up with a summary of where and how each bit is fitted and also which things to avoid.

I have fitted several XLD's to both yachts and cruisers in the past.

I too have fitted a few XLD ford engines into boats.

A guide would be useful for alot of people, as its a good replacement for older ford petrols in seamasters and the like.

I have a Ford Transit diesel engine in my Atlanta and would be grateful for any info re the engine etc..

exactly what I did. Bought a Ford Escort 1.8 Diesel. Stripped it, rebuilt it, paited it and fitted it into my Seamaster in place of the original Ford Consul petrol engine.

Sorry, I have little or no experience of the Transit engine, so can't help you there.
