Ford diesil

Hi all can anyone identify this diesil if so know if any maintainance manuals are available the engine is in a boat i am about to purchase its a pilgrim 25 1971 thanks for any replies

I have a similar looking engine looks like a 4D a very common type. Also ultra reliable.

would it be a ford dorset block? Mermaid or similar

I dont think it's a Dorset as I'm under the impression that they are 6 cylinder......

Ford 4D seems most likely and probably 80hp.

Looks like a Ford Lehman 2712-E .... and that heat exchanger is very similar to one I had on my two straight six fords, which were marinised by Lancing Marine back in the late 70's..

Its a Ford 2710 series, they made 4 and 6 pot versions of the same engine (4d and 6d).

As a marine engine these are normaly known as a Ford-Sabre Lehman 4d242 or 4d254.
I have some books (pdf's) on file if you send me your Email I will send them to you, (1 of them is in German).

As said a very good slow revs marine engine, but they suffer badly if the oil is not changed regularly.
