Force 10 cooker burner tops stuck

I have a 4 burner Force 10 stove. One of the burners does not light completely and so needs cleaning. The top is held on by 2 screws. They are stuck and I cannot undo them to the point that the cross head is no longer a cross
Can I drill out the screws? Any thing I need to know before trying to drill them out. Any clue as to their thread type and size?

What age is your cooker, as the burner shape changed between the older and newer models such that old do not fit into new cooker? The mounting screws may be the same. I am pretty sure that I have both old and new burners in my shed, so will take look and get back you to you later today / this evening.

Edit - your talking about the cap that sits over the burner I think, not the burner to cooker body screws. I'll check both.

My cooker was fitted 2001. It has a heat deflector that sits on a rail on either side whereas the even older version sat on studs. Does this help?

If you have a spare heat deflector that would be wonderful

This is what I have: -

The screws on both sizes are the same: Diameter 2.32mm x 20mm long
Both burner assemblies are SABAF with the smaller designated A15, the larger designated R39

I also have older style ones, which are drop on, held in place by gravity with no screws to secure.

Note that the screws pass through the flame part of the burner and screw into stainless bushings, which in turn are screwed into the jet housing. Hence, if you trash the screw heads, there is chance that you can unscrew from the stainless bushings.

Use a 1/4 inch drill and drill the heads off. You can then remove the cap. It is OK if not recommended to carry on using the burner with the cap replaced over the stubs of the screws.

The screws are usually available from Force 10 stockists or direct from Force 10.

My cooker repair man told me that it is very unusual to be able to remove these screws unless they have been greased before installation and slackened off and retightened every 6 months.
