I took a cycle ride around Altea Hills this morning and unexpectedly came across a view of the marina

It’s been breezy and quite rough for the last 3 days since we arrived, but now there’s hardly a breath of wind. Hopefully we’ll get out in our small boat next week.

It’s great to be back and to see lots of friends we haven’t seen for almost 2 years. And to enjoy the great food and wine here.

I can see our boat!

I think you'll find it far too exclusive for the riff raff who come here ?.

Portosenso, between Campomanes and Altea, looking towards the Sierra de Bernia, which is where the last few pics were taken from.

These pictures look real good !

May I ask for some biased opinions on Spanish navigation please - and Altea as potential home base.

We have been boating in South of France / bay of Sty Tropez area for 6 years now.
The Boat is a 25 ft Robalo open center console on a trailer, basically waiting on a trailer ( in dry storage in SoF) for 49 weeks - for our magic 3 weeks holidays.

SWMBO and myself are both young (at heart) at 55 years but have a slight heart attack each time we pick up a leaflet at real estate agents.
Spain looks waaaaay better in that aspect, and we are hoping to bite the bullet in the next year.

BUT - what is the boating like, around the Altea area ? On a classic slow summer day, lets say with 1 hour navigation / 15 miles max , what are the realistic options on restaurants, bays, creeks, ports to go and see ?

Please let me know,

Our small boat is kept on a trailer for about 49 weeks of the year in the boat park at Club Nautico, Altea. Included in our fees are 3 launches and recoveries using the travel hoist, and 21 days in the Marina. It costs us about €1400 for the year for our 4.7m boat.
There are no creeks hereabouts, but a few coves in which to anchor, and some have free mooring buoys. In Altea, and most other coastal towns locally, there is a wide choice of decent restaurants. Your 15 mile range will take you to Benidorm and Villajoyosa to the South, and Campomanes, Calpe and Moraira to the north.
Today we’ve spent most of the day anchored in a tiny bay shown on the chart earlier in this thread. The sea bed is golden sand, there’s a small sand beach which strangely appears and disappears, and for me, you can’t beat it. It’s surrounded by 300’ vertical cliffs, so the only way to get there is by boat (or parachute :)).5B0764ED-FB65-46CD-B208-E0E284CBF915.jpeg

Thanks for the update !

It definitely looks like a tempting package... so some serious food for thought :-)
Altea is an all year town too, not like parts of Mallorca. From a property perspective, the area by the marina is nice and is called Mascarat. Or you can head for Altea Hills where John is.

I'm not keen on Calpe but Moraira is lovely.

Video here....
