Great Pictures! One of the highlights of the fleet review for me was when europa sailed intro portsmoth harbour, within spitting distance of southsea beach, at teatime. Most or the other tall ships motored.

I don't know what it is about a sguare-rigger ........ but they make EVERYONE stop and stare ..... The best photo I have of one includes SWMBO .... with CEDOV in background .... as it sailed away from Southampton through Solent ... Cedov is a massive SR - Russian flagged .... so has particular relevance for SWMBO and I ....
I really enjoyed last years visit of Tall Ships to my 'town' in Latvia .... Venstpils and I was able to walk the deck of a vessel - I had some years earlier been Guest on board in St. Petersburg ..... "MIR" .... (in Russina means World) :>
I just hope that for many years to come that sponsors and caring people / gov'ts can be found to continue these graceful lady's on the water ....
My hope is that one day the reminaing J class boats can get together for a sail-together .......... that would be classic !!

Agreed, they have a magic of their own. One of the greatest views I've had in over 40 years of sailing was from the main royal yard of the Lord Nelson.
Great pictures,
living in the area I didnt get to see much of the celebrations, I spent my time by the Solent at Lee watching my mad keen youngsters make the most of the sailing weather on their boats, and loving the storm. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
