Standing headroom makes no difference to me as a singlehander. Following a few discussions on the Poole trip though, I'd say a tiller is almost essential! Being able to steer with your bum while doing the sheets is essential as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention not having to climb around the wheel to get to those sheets!
