For all you'se wishing ter visit Waitrose

In the middle eighties, there was a small restaurant in Ramsgate called "Gaslight" it only had around 8 tables as once it was full it was full. It was run by two Gay guys who did the best French cuisine anywhere in the area. It was also full of French diners awaiting ferries (word gets round easily) They would do table Flambes the lot. The tables were just scrubbed pine with a bottle and a candle in the middle. You had to book well in advance. I wonder where those two guys went.

I had the nastiest fish and chips I have ever encountered, in Ramsgate. It was overcooked, dripping and reeking of of stale oil, and to make it worse I could avoid seeing the great oaf sitting at the next table demolish his large helping in a minute or two by stabbing it with a fork held like a dagger. It used to be our tradition to go for F&C in Ramsgate on our return from three weeks in Frogland.

Surely not Peter's Fish Factory...

I can't remember the name of the place. It was a little corner spot just off the harbour. I very much hope that it has gone out of business because Ramsgate is a decent town, mostly.
I reckon you mean the one at the bottom end of Harbour Street. And I agree with you.

Well that didn't last long. Pity, half price offers looked tempting.
Hasn't Waitrose got any leverage (USA) in this fiasco?Or Red Funnel, with their new planning permission?
