Footwear - Again

As a post Christmas treat to myself I'm going to get myself some new footwear, specifically for use on the boat. I was intending on going to the swindlery tomorrow to buy some specialist deck shoes. But then I thought, should I be going in a different direction & getting some 'all round' casual shoes that could be worn on & away from the boat? What does the panel think?
 
I've already got crocs (see previous threads on the subject /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) but I don't wear them on the boat. Now I want some footwear with a bit of class.
 
I got myself some of these loafy type shoes which I can also wear to work nice soft soles (same as deck shoes) and very comfy. Hadnt ever bought chatham marine shoes before but now this is my second pair as was so pleased with the first deck shoe ones.

I am the proud owner of six pairs of crocs at the last count /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif (sporting a pair of fur lined ones as I type this) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif but I would NEVER wear them whilst crewing the boat.

Is it just me or does any else find that they become slippery on wet surfaces /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Shouldn't do, I think they were originally designed (in Oz?) for use on boats? Of course, everything will lose its grip at some point but I've found mine to be more tenacious that my Dubarrys - not that I've conducted a scientific analysis, you understand /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Missus bought me some crocs, but I wont wear them on the boat after nearly falling in the water with them on (I'm sure it wasnt the amount of beer I had drunk), trouble is they are so wide at the front which dont allow me foot to go between the cleat and deck when I am taking back covers off. And I reckon they are slippy too unlike deckshoes
 
Oi, you two. Crocs I've got (as has Mrs Lawsy) & great gardening shoes they are. But I want some posh looking boat shoes for next time we are in the principality. I actually fancy some like kawasaki has got, only with more life (& less experience) in them.
 
Boat shoes.......where did they come from then ........when all you really wanted was a comfy shoe with a non slippy sole made out of something that did not leave black marks all over your dazzling white coachroof.

The only reason for" boat shoes" to materialise on the planet was because some marketing genius came up with the idea being able to flog off some perfectly ordinary loafers at outrageous prices simply by slapping a Fairline (or logo of your choice) on the back and infering that you were not a real boater unless you bought a pair to go along with your Fairline Foulweather jacket/trousers/bootees and Fairline embossed cutlery/napkins.

Yer right oldgit 'Boat Shoes' are borrocks.

As Lawsey pointed out I do have a pair of 'Boat Shoes'
First ones I,ve ever owned.
Only 9 seasons old and just run in.

Purchased at a Boat show along with some wellies and another pair of leisure shoes.

It was '3 for the price 1' the man said.
He also said 'don't come back yer tight welsh git' or summat like that!

Just remembered the make--- 'Quayside' thats them.

I thought they were a bit Posh for Me at first so only stuck em on for Weddings and such like.

However I notice hlb has a pair now so they cant be That Posh

Was quite happy with clogs for years till the woodworm got to them!
Winklepickers are still in use on Anglsey, dead handy at LAT.

Anyway taint new strides for the boat you need.

On a sensible (for once) theme.
Take a look at the Timberline offerings.
Saw some before Christmas, looked like good shoes at about £50.

Back to the Crocs.
OK whilst fairly fresh but noticed a lack of adhesion when a bit worn.
Plus they have bits to catch on deck fittings so not for me afloat.
