does anyone know how the tables work in the small cruisers
the type that sits normally then drops down to make the bed
i know alot of them have a mechanism that allows you to slide and drop it in place

Well, lots of ways of engineering it but take a look here:

should give you an idea about the pedestal. Tabletop will also need supports at the end(s) which could be legs, or brackets that swing out, or panels that lift and click into place.

thanks for the info
however ours didn't have a pedastal
it has a bracket in the bow so the table sits in a U shape bracket kind of
then it should have a type of support leg on the other end
but there are holes in the sides and front seating which looks like it should have a 10mm bar poked in it
so when you want to use the table as a bed you unhook these legs pull the table and put them in different holes and you have your bed

Our sports boat had a ledge around the dinette seating that the table fitted into to make up the berth.

yes mine has the ledge also
but i made a leg up out of a bit of steel as there was nothing there when i bought it as a shell
