folding kayak

I just knew you NEEDED another boat . . . :D

That looks like corrugated plastic sheet with clip buckle strops across the top to hold it together.

Looks interesting, I wonder what price it will be & how long before cheap Chinese copies start appearing athalf that price.

And don't tell me about copyright - the Chinese don't generally acknowledge design rights.

Inflatable and folding boats are always a trade off between portability, assembly time and paddling enjoyment.

I've paddled both types and they are not as good as a Rigid boat but in saying that, I have a decent inflatable canoe because its damn convenient for transporting.

It must be a limited market for inflatable and fold up/sectional kayaks...the only reason I can think you would want one is if you want to store it in your boat or in your flat.

You can stick any kayak on the roof of a car, or store it in a garage or garden  I suppose there might be security issues though!

You've hit all the nails on the head.

Ours would be very vulnerable on the roof of the boat and it now stores inside. If I want to take it boating elsewhere it fits in the boot of the car. We can stop for lunch without having to be in sight of the car in case somebody takes it from the roofrack - also you don't need a roofrack.

Never mind all the small 'c's on here.
Innovative, looks like it will paddle well, compact to transport and store and if it seals as they say, looks nearly as strong as a 'proper' kayak.
Whats not to like?

I have a Seahopper folding dinghy for the same reasons. Better in many ways than my Honwave inflatable.

I have signed up for further info.

I think it looks great, it's the claimed 20,000 fold cycles before structural failure that I'd worry about. Those Portabotes now have a very good reputation though, I'd have probably worried if I had had one of them...
