The Freedom of Information Act comes into force from 1st Jan next year. Any citizen can approach any public body and ask for any information they want. Information can only be witheld where this is in the national interest.

So from Jan1, it might be interesting to approach the Cabinet Office, HM Treasury and the DfT asking for any information regarding policy discussions on derogation on diesel duty. The y are obliged not only to disclose any decisions reached, but also any material supporting that decision, and how it was arrived at. Examples would include Cabinet minutes, internal Treasury reports and assessments etc.

Freedom does not mean free - I think you have to pay for the information.

Yes you can have it but you have to pay the administration costs and that will be ......... extortionate probably
