Has any one any advice about which is the best sort of foam to use when making up cushions for bunks? I purchased some foam about four years ago and made some cushions. Despite the price at over £80 these have lost their shape and support. Any thoughts, or experiences in this area would be most welcome, particulaly advice about where to buy quality foam.

Closed cell Foam

Find some closed cell foam, the type that people use for camping. It is the only way to go, even if you have to glue several layers together to get the thickness. Main advantage is that it will not absorb moisture and thus you will not encounter all the sweating problems and need for extra ventilation, often bleated about in great length in these forums.

Latex...

i have mattresses made of latex (aka dunlopillo) made by natural mat co. (see press ads. cost a bomb but don't absorb water or sag. also made with layer of coir to prevent condensation

I bought mine 8yrs ago from "Foam for Comfort" (www.foamforcomfort.co.uk) It's still in perfect nick.
They do several different grades in various thicknesses, also Dunlopillo. I suggest one of the firmer grades is better, but not the very firmest. They can supply in stockinette covers if req'd and cut from paper templates. If you cut your own then an electric carving knife is the ideal tool.
