Been out today flying the flag, or forum burgee as it's sometimes known, for the first time. Didn't see any others.

After the discussion, further down, about Laptops and TV reception, I bought a WINTV USB, so I can get TV on the laptop. Works OK, reception good in Swanage, but there's a 500KW transmitter 25 miles away on the IOW.

Anchored in Swanage Bay, watching the Grand Prix, absolute heaven!

Re: Grand prix

I bet M schumacher won. Followed by an assortment of barricello, montoya, coulthard and some others and nobody overtook anyone else. Both jordans will have blown up. Worryingly, Eddie Jordan reckons his 105 sunseeker is really fab.

Re: Grand prix

What a sad race
1 = Michael
2 = Rubens
3 = Ralf
4 = J-P
5 = Button
6 = oh yeah - DC
glad I missed the full race and watched the highlights !!!
Anyone got any free tickets to silverstone this year - full hospitality would be great !!

Re: Grand prix

Yes thanks. Got a mate who works for....well I can't really say 'cos he's given me two tickets,,,but if I were to give a hint, their cars not runnng purrfect at the moment.

Don't know if I'll go though, always seems a bit samey. MS will win (again), by a street, then there'll be a bit of a tussle till Montoya, RS or Barichello comes second and who cares who comes in after them 'cos the Brits'll be "bravely fighting" for one point but probably end up like Norway, with nil point. The parking will be crap, they won't have got the contractually agreed dual cariageway working and it will just waste time that I could have spent more enjoyably on the boat watching the race on the telly with a much better view too.

BTW don't you agree it's just not as good without Murray doing his GO, GO, GO etc??

Re: Grand prix

Well I often go up the night before and kip in the back of the people carrier - loads of room - in one of the car parks. Really easy.
Great atmosphere - would love to camp in the camp site all weekend but SWMBO would not be impressed. So your mate is either yellow or orange ?? No OK green then. But not red.
I have a mate who works for the NEW team.

Hi John, I've got a PIII600 with 64Mb memory. Seems to work very well. Hauppage say min requirements are,

PC with a Pentium processor (166MHz MMX minimum)
Windows 98
USB port
sound card
CD-ROM driver to load the software

Maplin have the WINTV USB on special offer at £49.99 inc p&p at the moment. They also have quite a neat little signal booster than runs off AA batteries, £4.99. Helps drag a signal in.

Go! Go! Go! Go!

Well, I used to like dear old Murray. a real character. The current crop no substitute, maybe in 50 years time they might be. Still, he couldn't go on for ever.

All part of the entertainment to hear Martin Brundle say 'Er, Murray, that McLaren is a Ferrari!'.

Re: hauppag

Processor comes into it a bit, cos there's digital data coming down the USB, which is written direct to display RAM. A little cpu meter on mine shows about 25-30% cpu usuage when running TV.
