A follow up to johnalison's thread on where is everyone.
Here's a pic of Nieuwpoort with the ECF pennant flying in the foreground. Honest, it is. Look closer.
Anyone else care to contribute on a similar theme?

I will always respond to a Tut. Oh the joys of my river. 16 miles of fun and variety.
Fitted a recon replacement engine in the spring and really needed to give it a few hours to build my confidence to do the mouth/harbour/estuary runs singlehanded. All seems fine so far.
Saturday a bunch of guys sailed up from Aldeburgh to anchor and walk to the Butley Oyster for the football. An excellent pub which has been totally revived, food, cinema, shop etc, but a serious walk from the river. It encouraged me to listen to the game on the old wireless car radio laying in the summer sunshine, which was all very much like being on holiday. They all turned up later full of spirits, some swam out to their boat, clambering into the dinghy, then on board. I gave them a fog horn toot and waved my ensign as they passed. Which probably revokes my ICC.
Later in the evening was a small yacht on channel 16 seeking a tow off the nearby coast. Called my friend, Second Cox on Alde Lifeboat on mobile, told him to stand by. Apparently he was just about to eat and have a beer. Launched, collected Yacht Jade a mile off Aldeburgh Beach, took him into Southwold at low water, got back at 1:30am.
I got a rare suntan, discovered my inner self, had a bloody difficult job lifting anchor after following a formulites advice of motoring backwards to set anchor (into black gloopy sticky mud).
Motored home against half ebb at approx. 4 knots. Sunday drivers and picnic crowd heading down river, probably all criticising my bizarre actions.
Three nights on board, a great start to my summer, almost no digitalconnection but still had to respond to some work requests.
Saw a Spitfire, couple of seals, and lot of sun.
Up the Creek with out a care in the world.

Sounds great. Better than being trapped in Nieuwpoort anyway, 1000 berths and, umm, well 1000 berths

Was flying mine below the radar reflector until the halyard chafed though and it landed on my head
A temporary lash up now flying in Amsterdam Marina but connection won't let me load a photo.
BTW highly unimpressed with this marina. Have I caught it on a bad day?

I too couldn't upload from the mobile site but if you go to the bottom of a page you can go to 'full site' and upload there.

Its a small provincial town not a resort

2 distinct parts; the old town, presumably rebuilt after 14/18 and the apartment block resort on the seafront. We biked to both yesterday (everyone gets 2 free hours a day use of the marina bikes). The beaches are lovely but backed with HUGE apartment blocks. Aldeborough it isn't, but like I says, it's clean and tidy and the facilities and people are great.

Hi Dan,

Which marina in Amsterdam are you referring to?

Peter.

I think he means the big new one west of the town. They couldn't find a place for us last year, so I have no experience myself. Some friends liked it but they have odd tastes. With the far better Sixhaven and Aeolus nearby, it's a bit like choosing a packet of processed cheese instead of Cheddar.

The Aeolus also has the advantage of a large SM nxt door with real cheese.
Disadvantage, a hike to the ferry & loss of sun due to the large block of flats to the west + limited space
Advantage apart from the SM, friendly club run marina & cheap bier
