Hi , the flybridge drain hole is blocked on our Beneteau Antares , as a novice plumber can you simply poke a metal rod down the aperture or is a more technical repair necessary ?

On any boat I have had, when the drain blocked up, I simply shove a hosepipe in the drain and turn the water on. If there is more than one drain attached to the same hose run, just block that up too so the water goes the right way.

Hi ,This happened on my Antares 30 . Got rather wet when I opened the access hatch! As others have said poke with something thin and flush with a hose. I also have a Yanmar and get my parts from Keyparts in the UK. They are a little cheaper for genuine parts than buying from dealers. Any competent mechanic can deal. Changing the impeller is challenging though . its on the port side of the engine which means crawling down the side via the lazzerette. My engineer says it's the 2nd worst he's ever done! He takes the pump off ,changes the impeller in the workshop and then refits it .
Great boat ,enjoy

I'd go along with all above, I have just used hosepipe and water pressure to flush through when I've had this before, yes poking something flexible down the drain should also be ok along with lots of water but obvs don't force it as you don't want to push apart any joints.

Don't know if your fly is fully covered or not ? if it's open then you don't know what might be causing the blockage, tissues blown in the wind, mussel shell from a seagull etc etc. so take it easy, if it reoccurs then maybe look at having a mesh drain hole cover made that you put in place when you leave the boat ?

Hi guys , many thanks to all for your help and advice , having spent a lot of my life on , in and under the sea ( wakeboarding lol ) this is our 1st venture into boat ownership so bear with us as we probably going to pester you all for knowledge/help/ hints and advice ……...Thanks again Paul and Lisa ……...

We will soon know if 'Finding Nemo' was a good move lol

I have a 2001 Antares - I don't know if yours is the same design. The flybridge drain exits over the cockpit, but has a small plastic divertor on it on the underside of the flybridge overhang, which is probably where any any blockage can accumulate. This plate is held on with one screw, which can be removed for cleaning purposes, although I have never had to do it myself.

(edit - just noticed another post where you said yours is a 2010 Antares 30, so Beneteau may very well have changed the flybridge drain design in the time since my 10.8 was built, as the outlet was cunningly placed to drip water on anyone opening the saloon door.)

Just had a bugger to clear on my fly bridge this week, starboard quarter, tried everything but it wouldn't clear it, even a nylon draw wire which only passed about 1.5m in until it hit an elbow, so on this visit I took a small pressure washer out, it took some time but eventually black sludge slowly started to drain out and then quickened so we put a bottle of drain clearer down it, anyway all sorted now thank goodness. Was a bit worried using a pressure washer, as I thought it might blow off a hose....!

Hi, finally managed to get Cyprus and after 3 rather stressful days on the boat on shore power we have the following issues which I hope you can again help us with
1/ re blocked fly bridge drain , used a metre long wire flexi brush with limited success then put a hose in with good water pressure which had water freely exiting above water line. Cleaning fly floor it stopped again so used the flexi brush but next thing my wife shouted up we had water running through saloon roof ! Removed the grill to reveal a short metal pipe with a 90 % bend and water lying in the gulley , think i may have forced any connecting pipe off to take water lower than the saloon roof space ? Lucky we don’t get much rain here , your thoughts please ?

2/ with shore power connected and all three battery switches located by steps adjacent to heads in horizontal position , the water pump is running continuous but no water out of heads tap or shower and galley sink but toilet flushes , this can’t be normal ! If I put the black left hand switch to vertical water pump stops but we lose all lights and sockets??
3/ We seriously need a user manual for all the gadgets and switches that are alien to us and the marina technician doesn’t inspire confidence as he presses buttons for fun and scratches his head lol . We have lots of little user manuals for the various appliances but not a proper user manual for basic operations any thoughts as to online access ? There is a small panel adjacent to saloon throttle control with a green light below an orange light which are both on , again is this normal ?

Sorry to sound stupid , which I am not as we had signed up for local RYA power boat course on arrival in Cyprus but with Covid it’s not in been put in place by our newly built marina so reliant on help from very kind people like yourself , if you haven’t jumped overboard yet any help or info is very much appreciated ,

regards Paul

Put each problem as a separate thread. Otherwise this will only be seen by those interested in a flooded fly bridge

We had the same problem with one of our flybridge drains.
It just so happened that I had the exhaust tower (in the engine room) out for a repair.
And this was what I found behind it.

And one of the hoses on was from the Flybridge - it was kinked.

The exhaust tower was out for another reason.
Thankfully I noticed the problem before putting it back.
Every cloud has a silver lining.

Sorry to hear about your woes.
They say the pleasure of boat ownership can be divided into 2 , ratio varies depending ,
1 - using the thing
2- the DIY / maintenance.Fixing , keeping it running smoothly........

Drain holes “ we “ recently have just done ......

How to unblock drain holes.

Your W pump as mentioned fill the tank , try unplugging the pump first to stop it temporarily while it fills up , then restart it .
Are you sure ...
1- it’s actually the fresh W pump running ? , it could be knackered or just poor contacts ?
2- the “ pump running “ is not a bilge pump ? The float switches tend to go or stick etc .

Find the running motor and post a pic .

Do you have an unmarked switch on your main switch panel? If so it may be the fw pump. This was the case on mine, now marked appropriately.

BTW, I have the original user manual for my 760 and for all the info it contains it may as well be hung in the heads :cautious:

Hi guys thank you all so much for your replies and advice which we will implement , re the control panel we translated one switch to read water group switched that over and have now hot and cold water in the galley sink , so just the heads sink and shower with no water now , take on board comment re listing one question at a time under a heading so prepare to be bombarded lol we will post a pic of water pump in the lazerette , it certainly is a learning curve but thanks to this forums help we will get there ...... or sink without trace
