We have plenty of days sunbathing on the flybridge in shorts and t-shirts whilst motoring along, I guess North Wales Weather is world apart from the South East?
How very dare you, we are based on the Medway Riviera.....don't get much more south east than that...

See those Blue Skies in the pic. One shouldn't tell fibs on the forum when it's so easy to catch you out. UK weather indeed.
Of course if you only ever use your boat when it's blue skies and sunny then yes, go for a flybridge.
Oh we use it in whatever we get weather-wise. Only rarely have we been forced inside. Occasionally we have chosen to be inside. Mostly we just put on our oilies and get on with it. I've never seen boating as an indoor pastime personally, but perhaps some do.

Our first boat was a fly bridge it was ok but we found it a little anti social as when 4or more on the boat people tended to split in to 2 groups also not so good for older people to get up and down the stairs it was good on rivers with banks as you can see over the banks
Then had a couple o Brooms which were better easy to open and close the canopy they are solid well made boats we have now got a sports cruiser which Is great everyone always together has a solid opening roof at the press of a button quiet and easy to hear people without shouting we wouldn’t go back to a fly bridge

As others, spend most of the time on the flybridge unless the weather is rubbish, so do the guests, also it's a much better place to be when manouvering and for seeing elusive pot markers, especially the home made type!
And of course, on those balmy days you can always take it easy and enjoy the sunshine...

And the dogs just love it up there......

How does Lottie get down?

Well, there is that possibility. We have better waters and coastline though ?

Can I add to this discussion by saying something completely irrelevant? I almost never use the flybridge and I’m on the Med

Does your dog climb and decent stairs safely?
Just wondering what type of pet plan you may have for Fr vet bills .Or any other FB dog owner ?
My dog is not as clever as Lottie! I’ve rigged a sunshade on the foredeck so my dog and his mother can cuddle up, safe from the mid day sun.
We don’t have a pet plan. We just pay the bills as they come, which is probably in the tens of thousands by now?

Have had both Non Flybridge and Flybridge (if a Swift Trawler counts as a Flybridge ;)).

I think we have the best of both worlds now with our Broom 42CL with what I think are known as a Command Bridge..........

Weather is good open the 'pram hood system' in about 30 seconds, weather becomes inclement shut it in the same time. Get Flybridge visbility but change indoor to outdoor and vice versa very quickly.

The first time she did it I was sitting up there chatting with a chap who had the same boat as us and she just appeared at the top of the steps and hopped onto the the flybridge, we do try and stop her by blocking the steps but she normally finds a way.

We got our 1st flybridge when we went coastal, still got that boat, and absolutely love it. I think I've only helmed inside twice when it has been truly atrocious weather. We much prefer being outside and elevated. The view is fantastic and another nice thing is to be a bit more private up on the fly compared to being at pontoon level when in the cockpit. So if it's cold we'll just leave all the canopies on and dress up warm and go up top. The visibility for pot- bouy watching is great.

We are also an aft cabin so the cockpit is a bit raised which means the stairs to the fly are much more manageable for us and also our dog, she has always been totally comfortable getting about the entire deck/cockpit level and up/down to /from the fly completely as she wants. She's 11 soon so we will maybe have to watch her once we're allowed back on the boat but no signs of any problem up to when we last stayed on board before Christmas.

We had been sports cruisers up to this boat and would happily go back to one but given the choice it would be flybridge every time.
