Fluxgate Compass

Hi,

just narrowly escaped sinking my Hardy Seawings from a faulty seacock and damaged heads pipe and now all is dried out I've lost my reading from my Corus Heading display. Below my cabin floor is a grey 'blob' labelled Navico which I presume is a fluxgate compass which was underwater when flooded. Would this be the cause of the loss of display? Are they not waterproof?

The compass maybe but I would hazard a guess at the connections not being. Make sure all connections are very well dried.

The odds are that the two incidents are related. Have a look for any terminal connection blocks which may have been under water. Salt water and connections don't go and boat electrics are not overly protected when in the bilge.

Yes I'm convinced it's most likely the fluxgate but aren't they waterproof and so it's probably as mentioned above some oxidised connection? That's assuming it is the fluxgate that provides the signal for the heading indicator? (Before I pull up all floor panels again).

I'm trying to track down a Hardy 305 wiring diagram if anyone knows where I might get one, please?
