I have at least three wraps of sheet round my genoa and a bright yellow sail tie through the clew before I leave the boat on a bright sunny day let alone a forecast storm.
70 million quid for a glorified marquee? I wonder what committee of the great and good sanctioned that?
Nearly all the genoas I've seen shredding in the wind are due to the sail above the clew somehow unwrapping whilst the sheet still has turns around the sail.Tying off the furler drum to the pulpit prevents it from rotating and letting the sail out.

The drums are not rotating.

To quote the good Doctor, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe"What I didn't understand is that on a day with a RED weather warning, "Danger of death: stay at home", there were c 1000 people in there.
