My boat is in France and the company who are antifouling, cleaning & polishing it have asked if I would like them to appl "Fluozon" - it's described as an extra long lasting, anti stain poish. The extra cost for a 38 foot boat is approx £140.
Has anyone any knowledge of the product - is it worth it?

A google sarch brings up 47 sites mentioning it, but they're all in French. Anyone care to translate? Seems to be aimed primarily at the car market and offering extra protection to painted surfaces. Not sure about on gelcoat though. My French isn't that good.

There are similar product available in the UK primarily aimed at the automoive industry and I think it is about the same price to treat a large car. I would be interested to know if it is available for use on fibreglass although I think Starbrite marine polish is excellent. See Wash and Polish. Perhaps £13 a bottle is not that expensive afterall.

Re: Fluozon, volia

Tip: whenever the guys ringing you up for 140 quid extra for cleaning the boat, you always say YES. Otherwise you're a cheap git. Your boat will be fab and luxurious. It just HAS to be better than the one next door. Perhaps invite coliholic down first to do the tough stuff first of all.

Oh very good you've learnt to do "cut and paste". So all those hours of jfm teaching you what all the gadgets are for in the Leopard have not gone to waste, but what happened to the translation then?

Bit dangerous though asking me to "do the tough stuff". I'd only end up pouring a pot of tea on the carpet so it'd cost you more than the £140 that they want.

Yes don't be a cheapskate have it done, then tell us if it's any good. If it is good, perhaps you couild get the agency for UK and market it here. Dom would probably recommend it along with Slutron for no commission too.

Re: Fluozon or ...

certainly not. The idea is that you wait until the skipper gets a bee in his bonnet about whatever twit product is coming along, and THEN have it done. The original question ws would you follow the recommendations of the peeps in France having it done, to which the answer is o yes, I'm not one of the cheap git people. But if asked if I wd go out and buy it myself and goof about all afternoon polishing , the answer wd be ner.

If no skipper or boat-looking after peeps, then best of is GCTDI, much less effort and lovely shiny boat.

GCTDI= Get colin to do it
