happy new year to all,
thinking of a flotilla with (sailing holidays)just received the new brochure and looks good, just me and the wife our first flotilla would have week ashore and week afloat in kefalonia.
have own boat 24ft on east coast and day skipper cert so should manage okay have any of you used this company i would like to book at the Lbs next week your comments would be very appreciated.

Used them in the past and would recommend them, they have a very good reputation.

I would suggest checking availability now though, and not waiting for LIBS, they are quite often booked up a year in advance for popular dates.

Have had two excellent holidays with them, one in 2006 and one in 2005. Did the two week Whole Ionian both times and we all loved it. Really good company & friendly and helpful lead crews. Highly recommended.
Would agree you should see about availability before the Boat Show if you can.

Both Sailing Holidays and Neilson are less expensive than Sunsail, and both create reliably good holidays. I think that's because they're much smaller companies and are therefore more in touch with their flotilla crews. And the biggest variable in a Flotilla holiday is the quality of your particular crew.

With your experience you'd have no difficulty sailing in the Mediterranean. A new skill to learn would be anchoring bows/stern to the quays - but the crew are very helpful here for your first few efforts. Quite often they'll be buzzing around in a tender, taking your anchor out for you!

If you want to learn a little more about Greek cruising destinations (the warts and all stuff), see my web site. Sorry, Croatia and Turkey aren't up there yet. Gimme a month or two . . .

Would recommend Sailing Hols v highly; have done the Ionian with them, and also Kornati Islands in 2005 which was wonderful; we are booked on their Central Dalmatian Flot in July and I can't wait.

I have never been attracted to the villa/flotilla idea though; suppose you do the sailing first, you may regret having to go to your villa at the end of only one week, or vice versa.

I have also flotted with Neilson but would now go with Sailing Holidays every time.

I checked your site when considering my booking this year - but unfortunately you don't cover the area I (and others on here!) are heading this summer.

Nice site though - like the info for the areas you do cover.

Like many others have said, Sailing Holidays' have an excellent reputation.
We sailed the last flotilla of the season some years ago in the Ionian.
At the time I'd had the same certs as you, I'd owned a 20' Hunter Medina, but SWMBO and I went for a Beneteau 32, which suited us really well. We went off for a couple of days on our own then joined up with the rest later.
Superb memories... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
