I found this recent thread which describes a triangular board, about 18 to 22 inches each side, implying an equilateral triangle. But then Nicki_Crutchfield suggests an isosceles triangle. Any thoughts why that might be better, and what angle to use?

The Pardey's use one based on a child's plastic toy storage box. The mesh base is covered with a couple of strips of heavy dacron sown along the outer edge to act as a simple one way valve. A short length of chain suspended under the crate acts as 30 lb counterweight. The stopper is hung from the end of 6m spinny pole and adjusted so the stopper remains submerged on each roll. Ref. "Cost Conscious Cruiser". Clearly works on the basis of cross section area plus volume in the case of the Pardey model. Adjust volume for boat size. The Pardey's Mk2 stopper is cylindrical with dacron sides for easier stowage.
