Floor for Avon Redcrest

Hello,
I've got a Redstart with the 4 piece slatted floor held in place with a PVC sleeve thing, it's ok - gives some solidity to the floor but can be easily rolled up. Unfortunately I broke 2 of the slats jumping into the boat (don't ask...). I'd thought to get a set off a supplier assuming a few ply planks couldn't cost much but they're stupidly pricy - £166! I should have guessed really.

A friend had ply slats in his inflatable and he was always breaking them. I made some replacements for him from UPVC fascia boards. Waterproof, no need to varnish or paint them. Easy to make. Much better than ply.

if you go for some sort of ply ( or other material) in sections consider where you will stow them. You have to make them the full width of the dinghy to ensure a tight fit under the tubes but you have flexibility about the length. We ensiured that ours would fit under a bunk mattress.
