Floor Boards

Apologies for the barrage of questions, I am a bit new to this wood game!

Anyway I am looking to put some form of boarding down in my 12 ft dinghy. Now I dont want to screw or glue to anything thats going to flex/move etc, so what is this best way of doing this?

Would just dropping them "loose" in be sufficent.

I would like them to be removable also.

I think you need to secure the boards to the stringers for good practice / safety reasons. If you get a load of water in the bilge, loose boards will float up and cause a problem.

Use an ordinary bolt, or a turn button catch, then you can remove the floorboard when you want to clean or bale.

sarabande is correct. I have a couple of clinker sailing dinghies and the bottom boards are loose but held in by wooden turnbuckles. You can make them up either solid or slatted. Leave a hole in one for a hand pump so you dont have to remove them to pump out. Send you a picture if you like. email me if required.
