Abingdon this morning was still below the summer flood levels, I still think the EA held the water back to save Henley regatta and posher folks downstream /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
The level where I am is within an inch of last summer; I think it might be a bit less volatile because I am closer to the weir-head. Might get wet feet if there is a lot of rain this weekend.
I think that a lot of the problems this summer were further upstream because the water simply couldn't get away fast enough - partly caused by inadequate drainage, partly due to development of hard standing causing a faster concentration time.
Ashmount is looking a bit damp at the moment ....This was taken yesterday .....Ashmount is of course on the stretch between Goring and Wallingford.......At a guess I would say the level is about 3 feet up from normal.
Please note this was taken just before the lines were adjusted.
The flood poles seem to be working OK ....they have been made so they are easily removed and can be stowed away during the summer ..
This is taken when river was at normal level.
Nice to see the cygnets have found a quiet spot to have a kip
That's abput as high as I have ever seen it, when the old T&K marina was marooned about 5 or 6 years agao. I'd better get down there and check it out. At least we have tall poles on the pontoons!
