Flipper say\'s hello

Just back from Portofino blasting around on a new sports cruiser. This chap turned up with all his mates and gave us a wonderful show, twisting and turning and jumping through our wake. In my stupidity I only got this shot as I did'nt see the 'card full' symbol on the camera and was clicking away good oh thinking I had got loads of good shots......darn it!

Another for my collection!

Say's?????????

Why not "flipper i's a dolphin" or "flipper play's in the surf"?????????

Soon I shall make my fortune with a brief and amusing treatise on the abuse of the apostrophe.

Sadly, the apostrophe plural is becoming commonplace - but this - the apostrophe used in relation to the s on the end of a verb in the third person is something new and innovative.

I congratulate you. You have taken a new and definitive step in the pursuit of the ultimate abuse of the apostrophe.

Er, no, this is the natural progression and evolution of the written word and I as one who as always blazed a trail that others follow you should be grateful to see first hand my lead.

Apologies will be accepted with due grace.

Change that makes the language more beautiful, more interesting, more precise, more expressive - this is good change.

Change that blurs and confuses and blunts the language - this is bad change.

It's not the force of evolution at work here but the force of entropy. I urge you to resist! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Change

What the heck has the 2nd law of thermodynamics got to do with the written word? a word is in an inanimate and entrophy can only apply to the physical being.

In any event you are not obviously smart enough to realise that I was referring to 'say's law' and in case you forgot.....

Say argued against claims that business was suffering because people did not have enough money and more money should be printed. Say argued that the power to purchase could only be increased by more production. James Mill used Say's law against those who sought to give economy a boost via unproductive consumption. Consumption destroys wealth, in contrast to production which is the source of economic growth. Production must be guided by demand, however, to prevent the creation of goods for which there is little demand.

Flipper, obviously being more intelligent than you was giving me a pointer on the sale of my business 'Hello yachts Inc'....

Re: Flipper say\'s hello

Back to the original post...
I haven't seen dolphins yet. It must be quite an experience.
There was a seal inside the marina tonight but it's just not the same.

Re: Flipper say\'s hello

Certainly was, seen dolphins before but not that many together, there must have been 20 or more, even six or seven baby ones which where jumping through the wake in tandem with their mums. So peed off I ran out of card space as the one above is rubbish compared to when they were alongside. Even more spectacular is seeing basking sharks close up, bloomin monsters, in anything less than a 25' boat you feel very nervous as one flip of their tail and your in the drink. Lots of them around the Isle of Man at the moment.

Here is one from this year

...surely you mean "...one flip of their tail and you're in the drink." /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It's always fantastic to see dolphins swimming alongside the boat and being based in Porthmadog North Wales we are particularly lucky with both Dolphins and Porpoises making regular appearances on our runs between Porthmadog and Pwellelli / Abersoch.

Last week we were accompanied for about 30 minutes by a pod of 7/8 dolphins that swam alongside and kept darting under the bow before reappearing from the stern.....brilliant!

Re: Flipper say\'s hello

Ok, ok, I can't spell, answer the phone, send a fax and answer the door all at once......its Monday morning here ya know!. The world and his wife wants to buy a boat today, I need more hands or a sex change and be a woman (multi tasking and all that).
