Flights to preveza or lefkas

Most of the threads are old - and not easy to find given the search facility on here. If you don't want to read it why did you bother - and why waste even more of your time whingeing? I for one found this quite interesting! Don't take any notice Paddy!

Also interested in this thread. Search results refer to Tor Air who are no longer in business so good to get current situation.
Can anyone confirm whether the Athens to Corfu bus service, stopping at Aktion, includes ferry crossing from Igoumenitsa or does that need to be arranged seperately?

When last in LEVKAS the bus went straight through to Athens - that did not include any ferry crossing.
I'm relying upon infirm memory in saying that the coach was billed to Corfu. If you need any substantive info I would suggest you get in touch with kTel in Athens +35 210 5129 443

There is no need to book the ferry the 10 euro ferry charge is added to the bus fare. The ferry crossing is of course after the stop at Aktion (ie if going to Lefkas from Athens you don't need the ferry.

Easier to fly direct to Corfu! 3 1/2 hours to fly to Athens, Airport to Athens Bus station an hour and a half, Athens to Igounomitsa is the better part of 7 hours then there's a hour and a half on the ferry! One can fly to Cape Town in less time!

Depends what time of year you want to fly to Corfu, as to whether it's possible. Even if your unlucky enough to just miss an X93 you'll still only take 1:20 from airport to coach station, I've done it in 52' on one occasion.
But I agree with the sentiment, if not with the evidence.

Why is there so much angst over getting to Aktion? Book BA to either Munich or Vienna and then connect to Air Berlin to Aktion. The cost is very little more than sleazy jet and a bit less than Thompson Charter. And you get to be treated like a human being. You can book via the BA booking line (One World Partners) or you can save sixpence and spend 7 hours on a hot sticky coach.

Excellent advice.

Thanks for all advice. I wasn't very clear - I'm starting in Levkas and want to get to Corfu airport so my enquiry concerned the Igoumenitsa-Corfu ferry.

Coz I want to fly to Manchester and that can't be done from Athens with BA, so bus or flight from Aktion to Corfu are my options; the bus connection gives excellent timing.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know.

Why cant you fly from Athens to Manchester? I did it at Christmas, Sleazy jet or Aegean air fly to Manchester from Athens.

Your right. Post above edited. Aktion-Corfu--Manchester is still the shortest journey time though, with timely connections.

I spent 8 years in the 1onion and it was always a long bus trip, expensive taxi, or flight to Prevasa.
I now get up at 5 ;30 am short trip to Manchester for the 7;10am Easy flight to Athens a 1hour bus ride to the port and onto the dolphin to Aegina, sitting on the boat by 3;30 pm

Well Bob I'm in the Ionian now. Quick BA flight from Heathrow to Munich, one hour wait, then Preveza via Air Berlin, 5 hours all in vs the seven to Aegina. No bus to Pireaus from the airport, no ferry to Egina.

Yes but you`re rich and can afford it.. I pay about £40 for flight 5 euro for bus and 12,50euro for dolphin .:)

For that I get the Saronics ,Cyclades, Dodecanese, Eastern Peloponnese, And Turkey as a sailing area. with wind

Wish I was rich Bob. The Bertram is still going because of muscle and will power. The key point is wind vs rain. I like to sleep at night instead of rushing on deck to fend off/ tie down lazy charter boats clinging to my cleats in a blow. And you can't beat the gentle patter of fresh water rain washing the salt off. Aegina based touring is great for enthusiastic rag tops but I'm too old and tired to fight the plundering hoards or the fickle winds anymore.
There's not much cost difference (Levkas Marina excluded) between the two, but there is a trade off between the slick professionalism of Ionian and the friendly relaxed atmosphere of Kanonis.
Give my regards to them all.

What does this cost please, and how do you book?

Book on line in English with airberlin.com
Or phone their help / reservations line in English 08715000737
We have paid around £300 pp return Heathrow / Aktion Preveza for May and September
Just be a bit savy on your connections which can be via Munich or Vienna otherwise you can be hanging around for a few hours.

Thanks, that's a pretty good deal. We'll be out and back 3 or 4 times this summer so we'll give it a try :)
