Did forum search & did not see any recent notes on this subject

The FF instructions say "very tight" for the 30mm shaft nut which seems vague to say the least.

The other installation screws are actually given specific torque settings,

The only web specific search results was for a Hanse sail drive FF which was
50nm =36.7 ft lbs

Looking for specific experience from FF owners or installers.....or similar
prop installs.

Prop is going on a Benteau 43

Thanks in advance:cool:

I have 2x F/Folds, and to tighten the hub nut put a bar into the blade slot which holds the hub steady , then a 22mm socket using a torque wrench set to 80ft lbs . this is a big nut and would take a lot of leverage before doing any damage , then as your tightening it remember how much they cost ...... there are stories of these things falling off !
Also I use superglue on all the locking screws , for 9 years now ,and it has proved to be an excellent thread lock .

Good Info - thanks

Thanks much for the personal feedback & experience.
Tightening while thinking of cost = :).......You are right.

If you do 80 ft lbs on a 22mm.......guess the 30mm should be able to
absorb it and more

Superglue - now that is an interesting thread lock........

No one wants to add the falling off stories.

You sound very familiar with the install and based on what I read it looks straight forward - any other suggestion for first timer?

Thanks again

Props

Yes , be very careful when undoing the locking allen bolts ,use good / new allen keys . I had one shear off inside the shaft one time , whilst removing it ,and luckily managed to remove it by drilling with care and inserting an easy out. the bolts cost about £9 each , but you can modify other set screws to fit .
and ,of course dont overtighten them as they are fairly "soft "
I replace my saildrive shaft seals regularly as while your in there ... but thats another story !
good luck ,

Thanks for add'l advice & hints.

At this point, I'm concerned about getting the install correct.

Yet your warning about the "soft" bolts is important going in & coming out.
I have a set of Allen sockets and will use along with the Torque recs they have
in the installation instructions.

Wish they had a web link where they would list Torque by brand/model/drive type since the instructions are generic after Hub/shaft nut is installed.
