Hi All,
I need to replace my flexible water tank as it is leaking.
Not sure of manufacturer of original, which has an outlet pipe of 1.5 inches.
Have ordered a replacement Plastimo tank 150litre 140cm x 70cm, but on receipt have discovered that the outlet pipe is 12mm dia.
Went to price up a reducer from 1.5" to 12mm and that came to about £23 - half the price of the water tank.

Don't really want to replace all the hosing through the boat as it is awkward to fit. Other possibility, I supose, is to run smaller pipe through the original, but would have to change all the end fittings.

Does anyone know of other manufacturers other than Plastimo that produce Flexible water tanks with bigger outlets?

Thanks, Dave

I also imagine the gap between the pipes will be a breeding ground for critters and other nasties, I don't think this would be the route I would follow personally.

This is based upon nothing but a slight worry and it may not be the case, but that gap is going to remain damp and dark and pretty much untouched when filling the tanks.

Just thinking out loud..

You can get plastic increasers/reducers in plumbing shops for flexible pipes and they seem to go from about 28 mm Id down to about 12mm. You just cut off the sizes which you want end to ends and chuck the rest... I think they were designed for the "plumbing in " of dishwashers and washing machines, which of course use a range of pipe sizes.
I replaced an original 44 gallon flexible with a Plastimo two years ago and so far no problems. Did however use some old foam carpet in the "V" of the keel so that the GRP was well away from the plastic wall of the tank

Dave, Many old flex tanks were made by a company called Stowaway. Manufacture of these is now taken over by Tilley Inflateables. I had a new inner made by them last year and found them to be helpful and efficient. They'll make whatever you want. Contact Paul Tilley on 01803 833309 or 07815 144269.

I've no commercial or any connection whatsoever with this company other than that of past customer.
