Hello,
I wonder if anyone has done this or knows if it can be done successfully/safely ?

We are going off for a long cruise as soon as the kids break up and would like to increase our water capacity for those days at anchor. Along side that I would like to get a bit of weight forward to get the bow down a bit without using the trim tabs!

Ok what I would like to do is to fit a flexible triangular bow tank and to have a simple valve to allow it to drain into the main tank when that is low/empty. The flexi will be a good half meter above the main tank. I wondered whether I could rig up a couple of valves so the main pump pushes water from the main tank whilst I am filling up into the flexi? I would block off the normal 38mm inlet and do all this through the lower feed and remove any air when I start. Saving me drilling another hole in the deck.
The pressure switch on my main pump which is a Parmax 2.9 cuts out at 1.7 bar (25psi) but I wonder if that would be too much for the flexi? whilst filling the last bit.. Was hoping to use a Plastimo 120 L. but I cannot find any idea of what pressure they will take.
Has anyone done this or am I bonkers and risk the possibillity of showering the whole marina in fresh water!! Mind you some around here would benefit from a shower!

Cheers, Colin.

Not sure it is a good idea to pump water under pressure into a Plastimo type tank. Keep it simple by having a separate filler and a shut off valve to drain into the main tank, or better still pipe it to near the pimp and use a two way valve so that you can select either tank to feed the pressure system.

BTW I have a new boxed 120l triangular Plastimo tank surplus to requirements if you are interested. (Managed to repair the original steel tank)

I had one of those triangular flexi tanks as I needed weight forward. If the two tanks are connected, then filling from a deck filler above them will fill both of them. Why make it more complicated?

The flexi tank will be higher than the main tank and about level with the filler at the other end of the boat hence I think I will have to pump it into the flexi, If that makes sense?

Cheers for your replies. Colin.
