I woke up on my boat yesterday to the smell of paraffin and discovered a pool of the stuff under my Taylors 029 stove. Further investigation identified a leak from the flexible hose that connects to the gimballed stove. The hose is steel braided and spiral wound - probably a Rolls Royce job if the boat is crossing oceans but perhaps not necessary for trips around the Solent. The Taylor's spare looks to cost around E70 plus delivery. Any thoughts on cheaper industrial spec options?
Thanks in advance.

I would like to know as well, just about to install my 028. Any reason why we shouldn't just use normal gas hose? The pressure is only a couple of PSI.

Where are you looking at spares please, by the way? cheers Jerry

Personally I would just use a decent bit of BS7840 flexible hose or a ready made high spec Titan braided and sleeved hose from Aquafax, probably better than the Taylors one and the most expensive one is under £20

I have found the newer Taylor's hoses to be of better quality than the original. I have had the same problem as you only I use odourless paraffin so I had a puddle before I became aware of the leak!

Thanks for that.

My usual 'first thing' routine on awaking is to fire up the Taylors and get the kettle on. Fortunately that morning I had to answer a call of nature and was sufficiently compus mentus on my return from the on shore facilities to 'sense' paraffin. Like you I use low odour stuff. It could easily have been a more serious problem had I attempted to light the stove.
