flexable tank probs

I had some time on my hands over christmas so i decided renew my drinking water system. The problem is my flexy tank seems to be full of what looks like old PTFE tape even after twenty rinses its still coming out. Is flexy tank a gonner The tank seems to be made of blue lorry tarp. thanx nick

Sounds as though it was double skinned tank with the inner made of a of food grade plastic now disintegrating leaving just the outer. Or it's a coated material which is losing its coating. Sometimes double skinned tanks are made so that the inner can be replaced. Otherwise it sounds like a new tank is called for. They don't last for ever.

From your description it MIGHT be a Plastimo flexible water tank.
Plastimo water tanks have a blue fabric outer case for securing and to resist abrasion. The inner tank that contains the water is some kind of plastic.
Plastimo do sell the inner part on its own. Have a look at their web site.

Yes it does sound like a Plastimo tank,and they do sell the inner seperatly, you will need to know exactly which one it is, ie rectangular, triangular or square, also the capacity.
If you pm me with the outside demensions I could look at my catalogue and find out the volume and part no for you.
I just bought the 120ltr triangular one for around £50, for the comlpete tank with fittings.

Your description is very general and could fit any number of tanks. Check if it's a "pillow" tank (basically two sheets folded and welded together) or a formed one with "walls" to fit a three dimensional location, e.g. under the cabin sole. Off the shelf tanks such as Plastimo are invariably pillow type. If it's a very old tank it could be a Stowaway which used to be popular. Stowaway were bought out by Avon and later sold-on or franchised to Tilley Inflateables, who still make 'em. They could also replace custom inners if your outer is still a serviceable unit.
