fletcher - identifying date

Friend has a faro and needs to know its build year as insurance requires survey at 20 years old. Phoned fletcher but they say they have lost all records.
serial number 1802307989 on a build plate under the helm, can anyone help ..? we suspect its an 89 but cant be sure. Trouble is already paid insurance and now noticed this caveat and survey is approx £220 to ok a £100 policy on 5k boat, which needs doing every 3 years, crazy.

Faro 18 MK1 Produced 1986 to 1991 (if I remember rightly). Would therefore guess it is 1989. If it is the light brown GRP colour then an early one. The White GRP came later! The newer Mk2 with Oval windows was 1991 - 1995ish and replaced by 18 Sportscruiser (from 1994). Often had two tone GRP (Blue Stripe).

If it was an American build the last 4 characters of the serial number represent Build Year, Design Year, and Month of Build eg
?102 where:
? = Letter between A and L denoting Build Month (A = Jan, L = Dec)
1 = Build Year
02 = Design Year
so E102 would be a 2002 Model Year boat built in May 2001.

If this is similar worldwide I would suggest that your boat is a 1989 Model year built in July 1989

I may be completely wrong with your serial number, but it looks promising.
