Some friends have one of these boats and I'm giving them a hand to get it ready for the season, basically getting the engine running which shouldn't be a problem but we are not getting any fuel thru to it.

It's a large Yamaha outboard, rather than an inboard and there is a priming bulb in the fuel line just ahead of the engine. We disconnected the 'output' side from the bulb but it just seems to be drawing air. I swapped the bulb for a known good one and no different. There appears to be a good amount of fuel in the tank, the fuel tap was turned on (!) and so the next step appears to be to trace the fuel line back to the tank pickup outlet.

It looks like the floor can be lifted to access the whole tank, has anybody done this? Or would any other owners happen to know if the tank connection can be accessed without lifting the floor somewhere? I found a hatch that allows access to the sender.

Thanks.

Hi
I have a 19 GTO. Just a few things from me;
I have a primary fuel filter mounted down where the battery is, under the rear centre seat hatch. Your friends may have also ? Worth checking this perhaps.

Sorry to ask this...but I take it the fuel line and priming bulb is fitted going in the right direction ? These only flow fuel one direction, as you'll likely know..but thought I would mention it.

All the above aside...the fuel tank is under the floor and situated just aft of the dash and cabin door, across the width of the boat. Most of these GTO 19's, you will need to lift the floor section to access. There are a load of screws holding it down...but the main issue with lifting it, is the amount of sealant around the join. Has been known to be an issue.
I have also seen these boats have a circular hatch situated just under the drivers seat. I don't have this, but some do. you might be lucky.

The final thing I have to add, is that when I first bought mine...on the first launch, it started for a second, then cut out..The fuel valve at a glance looked to be open...but it wasn't. It can be deceiving, just with the arrangement of it. Just double check it is actually in the right position perhaps.

Just to be clear...are you not even getting fuel out the end of the fuel hose, when you press in the wee ball valve on the connector?

I've done this, absolutely convinced the arrows were going in the right direction! I was going to suggest it but the OP seemed rather more intelligent than me ?

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, the bulb was the right way around, but always worth checking! I took the hose off the bulbs 'output' side, and you are correct, no fuel coming out of it, even after I put on one from my spare outboard tank which I know works.

I'm glad you mentioned the sealant around the floor, thats kind of why I asked as it almost seemed too easy to remove all the screws and then just lift the floor. It's a boat of course, so nothing is as easy as it seems ;)

I've got more time and more things to explore when I pop around to see it next week.

I worries. I’d just check that valve again. Just in case. I’ll be at the boat later today. I’ll see what direction it’s sitting in. I defo remember it being not as you’d think it would be when open
