Flavel Vanessa cooker - flame failure device?

The Vanessa does not have an FSD on the hob and to the best of my knowledge no conversion is available. There is no requirement for existing cookers to have FSD's on the hob so cannot see any particular reason to ditch the cooker unless you are paranoid about it.

ffd is available on any gas flame, all it does is cut the gas off when it cools down ie. when flame blows out. Only fairly recently started to be fitted to hobs (domestic as well as marine).

Ken, can't help you with FFD info but thought you might like to know that Flavel-Leisure is part of the Consumer Products Division of Glynwed International Plc, Leamington Spar, UK. (http://www.leisurecp.co.uk/html/). Although the Vanessa is not mentioned on their website, there is a contact e-mail address.. Please let us all know how you get on.

- flame failure device?

www.bes.ltd.uk sell a selection of fds's.to the gas trade. With a lot of care and ingenuity ...........but this would of course be contrevening the Gas Safety Regs on at least two points which come to mind. You can only fit spares manufactured for that specific application and you have to be a member of CORGI. Our Tailors is 11 yrs old. Is fitted with fsd's as standard and has paid for itself several times by not blowing us up on the occasions we have boiled over, particularly on passage.
