They also work well if glued to a backing pad and used in a drill at low speed.

Can't see why you'd need to do that, all the marks on my top sides were gone with a single wipe.

Don't think so. I used a Stanley knife blade as a scraper to mine off

I found that the Fairy Liquid strong detergent (can't remember the name) would eventually soak into dried teak oil and lift it off - the Stanley blade does mark the gelcoat, well actually it scrapes it off!

I found that neat acetone and a plastic pot scourer pad worked.
