Flares for the new years eve

Dyflin.... what a wonderful troll you are! This one, particularly considering the excellent response it got, should make you qualify for a Scandanavian passport/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The best way to get a REALLY good effect from your old flares is to strap a couple to each arm and leg, making sure that the ones on your right arm and leg are all pointed upwards and the ones on your left arm and leg are pointed downwards..... then bend over and have a good friend who you trust insert one carefully where the sun doesn't often shine (ensuring that it is pointing OUTWARDS /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) and finally, stick one in your mouth (again pointing outwards), then have them all similtaneously fired and your spin will impress even the most cynical of observers...... this works even better if you have had a bottle of good malt whiskey before you set it all up!
Cheers /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

excellent post mate i loved it!! I cannot believe anybody would take it seriously! I is blatently a joke and a bloody excellent one! I know you will, but I will say it anyway - have a good one!

I've had a quick word with Howth CG and they'll be watching for your firework display on New Years Eve ~ I hope you find your time in clink happy?

Fer christsake don't let off any flares ~ it's illegal!!!

Sup a few halfen's of "Paddy's" and have a good time but please forget the fireworks.

Peter.

IS THIS A REAL LEPRAUCHAN . KISS MY BLANRNEY STONE.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FAIR WINDS GOOD COMPANY AND SAFE SAILING TO ALL FORUMITES

Reminds me of a night in Sines marina (Portugal) a few years back when the locals were celebrating Independance Day with a carnival and firwork display on the beach. The yachties spent the evening dashing round putting out fires caused by fireworks landing on the decks and sails. Quite a bit of damage done.

Hmmm..nice one..but it remindeth me of the RNLI demonstration of their rocket powered breeches buoy in Boston Dock..not very many moons ago.

It worked a treat...right over the highly elevated power lines over the river Witham. Lincolnshires electricity supply was restored within 24 hours......OOOPS! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Look, in this part of the world we have a philosophy called 'exceptionalism' - basically this means that all the rules apply to all the people except 'me'. So, I find the responses to the original post a bit starchy to say the least. Letting off flares is absolutely fine - handhelds no probs; parachute flares - just phone the CG in advance and they will always give approval. Now come on, give proper advice guys.

My sincere apologies..... I stand rebuked and corrected.....
Dyflin, please remember to notify the Coast Guard before you have somebody set off all those flares attached to and sticking out of your bodily appendages!

Once again cant believe anybody could take this seriously, but just out of interest, have you really? Cos unlike Dyflin I cant tell if you're joking or not...

Just make sure your insurance covers this!

I had the dubious honour of setting half of Lullworth alight with para flares some years ago

That's always assuming it goes off when you trigger it, its a very sobering experience when it doesn't lol

Quick update on the fire on board my yacht caused by the flare...

The person whom police arrested and charged appears in court in March charged with arson. Perhaps others thinking of setting flares off when they're not in danger might like to bear this in mind.
